Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Mumbai
IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas, forecasting intense spells through the evening.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall through the evening and into tomorrow morning.
What's affected
The BMC has advised residents in low-lying areas to stay alert. Local train services on the Central and Harbour lines are running with delays of 10–15 minutes due to waterlogging near key stretches.
"We're monitoring water levels at all major nullahs and pumping stations are on standby," a BMC disaster management official said.
What to do
Commuters are advised to check train status before leaving home and avoid non-essential travel through low-lying underpasses. This is a developing story and will be updated as conditions change.
